Splash
Pronunciation: splesch Also known as: Schuss
An imprecise measure for a small pour of liquid, larger than a dash, roughly one to two bar spoons.
A splash is a small, loosely defined pour of an ingredient, usually juice, soda or liqueur. It lies roughly between a dash and a centilitre, that is, a few millilitres. In a recipe it means the ingredient is added just to round off the drink or to add some colour or flavour.
For cocktails that need to taste consistent the term is not ideal, so professional bars usually measure exactly. In home recipes, however, the splash is common.
