Boston shaker

German: Boston-Shaker Also known as: Boston Shaker

A two-part shaker made of two cups that fit into each other, usually metal or metal and glass.

The Boston shaker consists of two cups whose rims are fitted into each other and held together by a vacuum seal. Common are two metal tins or one metal tin with a mixing glass. It has no built-in strainer, so a separate strainer is needed.

It holds more than other shakers, chills quickly and is easy to clean, which is why it is standard in many bars. Opening it takes some practice, usually a light tap with the palm against the seam.
