Long drink
German: Longdrink Also known as: Long Drink
A mixed drink of large volume, usually over ice in a tall glass, in which a spirit is lengthened with plenty of non-alcoholic mixer.
A long drink is a mixed drink of large volume, typically 200 millilitres or more, topped up with plenty of juice, lemonade, soda or tonic. The alcohol share is therefore relatively low and the drink is sipped over a longer period. Examples are the Gin and Tonic, Cuba Libre or Tequila Sunrise.
It is usually served in a tall glass, often with a straw and plenty of ice. Unlike the short drink, the long drink is refreshing and suited to warmer days.
