Build
German: Build (direkt im Glas) Pronunciation: bild Also known as: Built, Direkt im Glas
A preparation method in which all ingredients are assembled directly in the serving glass, without a shaker or mixing glass.
With the build method, ice and ingredients go straight into the glass in which the drink will be served. Usually a quick stir with a bar spoon follows. The method is fast, needs little equipment and suits drinks that are topped up with soda, tonic or lemonade.
Typical examples are the Gin and Tonic, Moscow Mule or Aperol Spritz. The order matters: ice first, then the spirit, and the carbonated drink last so that as much carbonation as possible is kept.
