Spritz
Pronunciation: schpritz Also known as: Aperol Spritz, Hugo
A light aperitif drink of sparkling wine, a bitter aperitif or liqueur and a splash of soda, served over ice.
A spritz is an aperitif cocktail classically made of prosecco or another sparkling wine, a bitter aperitif and a splash of soda water. It is served over ice in a large glass, often with an orange slice as garnish. It is light, lively and low in alcohol.
The mix is popular in many variants, for example with elderflower syrup, citrus aromas or different bitter liqueurs. The name derives from diluting wine with water. It is drunk as an appetiser before a meal.
