Highball
Pronunciation: hai-bohl Also known as: Highball-Glas
A tall, slim glass, or a simple drink served in it: a spirit with plenty of mixer and ice, such as a gin and tonic.
A highball is both a type of glass and a group of drinks. The glass is tall, slim and holds about 250 to 350 millilitres. As a drink family the term describes a spirit lengthened with plenty of carbonated mixer such as soda, tonic or ginger ale, served over ice.
Examples are the Gin and Tonic, Cuba Libre, Moscow Mule or whisky soda. Because of the high share of mixer, highballs are light and refreshing. They are mostly built directly in the glass.
