Shaker
Pronunciation: sche-ker Also known as: Boston Shaker, Cobbler Shaker, Cocktailshaker
A vessel for shaking drinks with ice, usually a Boston shaker made of two tins or a three-piece cobbler shaker.
A shaker is the key tool for shaken drinks. The Boston shaker consists of two cups fitted into each other, usually metal and glass or two metal tins, and is preferred by professionals. The cobbler shaker has three parts, namely a tin, built-in strainer and lid, and is popular for home use.
The shaker is filled to about two thirds with ice and the ingredients. The cold makes it contract so that it seals tightly. After shaking, the drink is strained.
