Iced tea

German: Eistee Also known as: Ice Tea, Eistee

A cold, usually sweetened refreshing drink based on tea infusion or extract, often with lemon or peach.

Iced tea is a cold drink based on brewed tea or tea extract. It is mostly black or green tea flavoured with sugar or sweetener, acidulant and fruit aromas such as lemon or peach.

Ready-made iced teas in shops often consist largely of water, contain little tea and sometimes much sugar, which is visible on the label. Homemade iced tea can be made from cooled tea with lemon juice and, as desired, honey or sugar. Iced tea contains caffeine, although less than coffee; the amount depends on the tea. It is especially popular in summer.
