Lemonade (soft drink)

German: Limonade Also known as: Zitronenlimonade, Erfrischungsgetränk

A sweet carbonated soft drink made of water, sugar, acidulant and flavourings.

Lemonade is a refreshing drink made of water, sugar and flavourings. It contains carbonation, is more or less sweet and is balanced by acidulants such as citric acid. The name derives from the lemon, but today lemonades are available in many flavours.

The ingredient list often includes fruit juice or juice shares and flavourings. For lemon-flavoured lemonade a minimum juice content is prescribed. There are classic varieties such as lemon, orange and woodruff, and sugar-reduced versions with sweeteners. In trade, lemonade is a general term for sweet, non-alcoholic soft drinks. Cola and energy drinks form their own categories.
