Not-from-concentrate juice
German: Direktsaft Also known as: Direktsaft
Fruit juice obtained directly from pressed fruit and bottled without water removal.
Not-from-concentrate juice is obtained from freshly pressed fruit and bottled without the intermediate step of removing water. It is usually briefly heated (pasteurised) to make it keepable. The water naturally contained in the fruit is retained.
It often tastes somewhat more natural and fruity than juice from concentrate. The label may state “not from concentrate” but does not have to. It is usually more expensive than juice from concentrate because transport and storage are more costly. Naturally cloudy juices are not filtered and contain fruit particles.
