Apple juice

German: Apfelsaft Also known as: Apfelsaft

The most drunk fruit juice in Germany; cloudy or clear, often made from orchard fruit.

Apple juice is one of the most popular fruit juices in Germany. It is obtained from pressed apples, either directly pressed or from concentrate. The taste depends on the varieties used: sweetness, acidity and tannins shape the profile.

Juice from meadow orchard fruit is particularly valued; it is often blended from various varieties and has strong acidity and aromas. Many juice presses offer juice cloudy or clear. Cloudy apple juice contains more fruit components and is therefore somewhat more tart. Apple juice is the base of the popular apple spritzer. As fruit juice it may contain no added sugar; the sweetness comes from the fruit.
