Packaging unit (VPE)
German: VPE (Verpackungseinheit) Also known as: VPE, Verpackungseinheit, Verkaufseinheit
The smallest quantity in which a supplier sells an item, for example one crate or one carton.
VPE stands for the German term for packaging unit. It is the quantity that is packed together and ordered from the supplier, for example a crate of 20 bottles or a carton of six cans.
The VPE matters for ordering and stock management. Single bottles can usually only be bought in whole VPEs, while sales to end customers may use smaller units. Several VPEs form a layer or a pallet.
