Crate

A sturdy carrier for usually 12 or 20 bottles, issued with a deposit in the reusable system.
The crate is the standard container in beverage trading. It is stackable, holds about 12 bottles of 0.7 litres or 20 bottles of 0.5 litres depending on type, and is issued with its own deposit.
Each bottle type fits only a particular crate, so crates and bottles should be returned sorted by type. Crates are usually printed and belong to the bottler or the pool. Crate size also defines the pack unit in purchasing.
