Empties
German: Leergut Also known as: Leergutrücknahme, Pfandgut
Empty deposit bottles, crates and kegs that are returned to be reused or recycled.
Empties are all empty containers for which a deposit was charged: bottles, crates, kegs, cans or pallets. Retailers accept them, sort them by type and owner, count them and return them to bottlers or suppliers.
For beverage traders, managing empties is a task of its own: deposit balances must match, foreign bottles and crates are separated and damaged items are sorted out. Accurate counting and sorting prevents losses and disputes with customers and suppliers. With home delivery, empties are collected at the next delivery and credited to the customer account.
