Remaining shelf life

German: Restlaufzeit (MHD)

Time remaining until the best-before date at delivery or sale.

Remaining shelf life states how long goods remain good until their best-before date. It is often stated as a share of total shelf life or in days and is an important parameter at goods receipt.

Retailers and suppliers often agree minimum remaining shelf lives; goods falling below them are rejected or accepted only with a discount. The best-before date is not an expiry date; goods are not automatically unfit after it.
