FIFO / FEFO

Also known as: FIFO, FEFO

Warehouse principles: FIFO picks the oldest stock first, FEFO the stock with the earliest best-before date.

FIFO (First In, First Out) means goods stored first are also delivered first. FEFO (First Expired, First Out) instead follows the best-before date: what expires first is sold first.

Both methods matter in the beverage trade, especially for beer, juice and fresh products. FEFO requires that the best-before date is recorded at goods receipt so that storage locations and batches can be assigned.
