One-way bottle
German: Einwegflasche Also known as: Einweg
A bottle intended for a single filling that goes to recycling after use.
One-way bottles are filled once and recycled after use, for example as plastic or glass recycling. They are lighter and need not travel back to the bottler, which suits long transport routes and sales over great distances.
Most one-way bottles and cans for drinks are subject to deposit in Germany, at 25 cents. Exceptions apply to certain drink types and packaging. The difference from a reusable bottle therefore lies not in the material alone but in whether the bottle is designed for refilling. The applicable regulations are authoritative.
