Product range

German: Sortiment Also known as: Warensortiment

The totality of articles a trader carries.

The range includes all products a business offers. In beverage trading one distinguishes breadth, meaning how many categories such as beer, water, wine or spirits are present, from depth, meaning how many brands and pack sizes per category.

The range reflects target group and location: a wine specialist sets different priorities than a regional beverage store. Maintaining it means adding new items, delisting slow movers and offering seasonal products. The range often also includes extras such as glasses, ice, carbon dioxide or party supplies that round off shopping for celebrations.
