Ingredient list

German: Zutatenverzeichnis Also known as: Zutatenliste

A list of a food's ingredients in descending order by weight.

On prepacked foods, ingredients must generally be listed in descending order of weight. Allergens are highlighted. Additives appear with class name and designation or E-number.

For beer and spirits above 1.2 percent alcohol by volume, EU law provides an exemption from the ingredient list obligation, but allergens must still be declared. For wine, sparkling wine and wine-based products, however, an ingredient list and nutrition declaration have been mandatory since 8 December 2023 (production date); the information may be provided via QR code. Many producers of other drinks list the ingredients voluntarily. The applicable regulations are authoritative.
