Low-sodium mineral water

German: Natriumarmes Mineralwasser Also known as: Natriumarm, Mineralstoffgehalt

Mineral water with less than 20 milligrams of sodium per litre, suitable for low-salt diets.

A mineral water may be called low in sodium if it contains less than 20 milligrams of sodium per litre. This is a note that manufacturers may additionally place on the label. The designation helps people who want to watch their salt intake.

Other notes on the label include “suitable for preparing infant food” if the water meets certain limits, for example for sodium, nitrate and fluoride. Those wanting to take in minerals deliberately will find statements such as “containing calcium” (more than 150 milligrams per litre) or “containing magnesium” (more than 50 milligrams per litre). These values are shown on the label and can be checked.
