Delivery note
German: Lieferschein
A document recording the type and quantity of delivered goods and any empties taken back.
The delivery note accompanies the goods and lists what was delivered: items, quantities and possibly batches. In beverage trading it often also includes the empties delivered or taken back.
The customer checks the goods on receipt and confirms them, often by signature. This makes later deviations provable. The delivery note is not an invoice but forms the basis for it and for the deposit account. Damaged or missing goods should be noted on the delivery note immediately so that later complaints can be traced.
