Rebate
German: Rückvergütung Also known as: Bonus, Umsatzbonus, Rückvergütungen
A subsequent refund or credit from the supplier, usually depending on the quantity purchased.
A rebate is granted retrospectively, often at year end, when an agreed purchase quantity has been reached. It is referred to as bonus, refund or credit note and effectively lowers the purchase price.
In beverage trading it appears in supply contracts between brewery and trader or pub. The exact amount depends on quantity, term and contract conditions. For tax purposes it is treated as a price reduction, for which the applicable rules apply. For hospitality and trade it is an important part of calculation, because it only actually flows at the end of the period.
