Net quantity
German: Füllmenge Also known as: Nennfüllmenge
The statement of the quantity contained in the package, for drinks in litres, centilitres or millilitres.
The net quantity must be stated on prepacked drinks. Common units are litres (l), centilitres (cl) or millilitres (ml). It must appear in the same field of vision as the name of the food and the alcoholic strength, and be easy to read.
Prepackaging rules allow deviations from the nominal value within narrow limits, but on average there must not be too little. The e-mark on the label confirms that filling is controlled under EU rules. For reusable packs the quantity statement applies per bottle, not per crate; the number of bottles in the crate is stated in addition. The applicable regulations are authoritative.
