e-mark

German: e-Zeichen Also known as: e-Kennzeichnung, Schlussstrich

A small 'e' next to the quantity confirming compliance with EU requirements on fill quantity.

The e-mark is a small 'e' next to the quantity statement on prepacked goods. It shows that the filler meets European requirements for controlling the fill quantity. As a result, products may be traded in the EU without additional national checks.

The mark does not replace a quantity statement but complements it. It must have a minimum height and appear in the same field of vision as the net quantity and alcoholic strength. It is particularly common on drinks because bottles and cans are filled automatically in large numbers. The applicable regulations are authoritative.
