Nominal volume
German: Nennvolumen Also known as: Nenninhalt
The volume stated on the package to which the net quantity labelling refers.
The nominal volume is the value stated on the package as content, for example 0.5 litres. It is decisive for the legal assessment of the net quantity. The actual fill can deviate within permitted tolerances.
Serving has its own rule: drinks served by the glass must be poured into glasses with a fill line, and a menu statement refers to the quantity up to that line. How beer foam is handled has been the subject of case law. The applicable regulations are authoritative.
