Arabica

Also known as: Coffea arabica

Arabica Arabica Arabica Arabica

A coffee species (Coffea arabica) that supplies most of the world's coffee and is known for a delicate acidity and complex aroma.

Arabica is the most widely cultivated coffee plant. It prefers higher, cooler elevations, is more demanding to grow and more susceptible to disease and frost than Robusta. The beans are usually elongated with a curved centre cut.

In flavour, Arabica is regarded as more complex, with fine acidity and often sweet, fruity or floral notes. Its average caffeine content is lower than that of Robusta. Whether a coffee tastes good depends just as much on origin, processing and roast.
