Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA)

Also known as: TBA

Highest classic Prädikat level: highly concentrated sweet wine from raisin-like, botrytised berries.

For Trockenbeerenauslese the berries stay on the vine until noble rot and water loss have shrivelled them like raisins. They are picked individually and yield very little, extremely sugar-rich must.

The wines are viscous, very sweet and carried by high acidity, which gives them exceptional longevity. Because fermentation is slow and incomplete due to the high sugar content, alcohol stays comparatively low.
