Single cask

German: Single Cask (Einzelfass) Also known as: Einzelfassabfüllung, Single Barrel

A bottling taken exclusively from a single cask, not blended with whisky from other casks.

In a single cask bottling the entire content of the bottles comes from one cask. It is not married with other casks, so each bottling differs in aroma and strength. The result is usually limited and the cask number is stated on the label.

Single cask bottlings are popular with collectors and connoisseurs because they show the character of an individual cask. They are often bottled at cask strength as well. Because of variation between casks, the result is not reproducible.
