Lassi

Also known as: Mango-Lassi, Mango Lassi

Indian yoghurt drink prepared sweet, salted or with fruit such as mango.

Lassi originates from Punjab and is popular throughout India and Pakistan. Its base is yoghurt, thinned with water or milk and whisked. Depending on region and occasion, it is made sweet with sugar, salted with cumin or with fruit.

The best-known variant outside India is mango lassi. Lassi is traditionally served chilled with spicy food, whose heat it softens. It is available in shops as a chilled ready-to-drink beverage, while in restaurants it is usually freshly blended.
