Packaging register LUCID

German: Verpackungsregister LUCID Also known as: LUCID, Verpackungsregister

A public register where producers must register their packaging before placing it on the market.

LUCID is the packaging register of the Central Agency Packaging Register. Anyone placing packaged goods on the market in Germany must register there and report packaging quantities before selling. Participation in a dual system for disposal is also required.

The register is publicly accessible. Retailers may only sell packaging subject to system participation if the producer is registered. One-way beverage packaging subject to deposit is exempt from system participation but must still be registered in the packaging register. The legal basis since August 2026 is the Packaging Law Implementation Act. Retailers buying from producers should check that these are entered in the register in order to avoid fines. The applicable regulations are authoritative.
