Herbal infusion
German: Kräutertee Also known as: Kräuteraufguss, Herbal Tea
An infusion of dried herbs or plant parts that does not come from the tea plant.
Herbal infusions are brewed from leaves, flowers, roots or seeds of other plants, for example chamomile, peppermint or fennel. Since they do not come from Camellia sinensis, they are not tea in the strict sense but "tea-like products".
They contain no caffeine unless the plant itself does. Steeping times and water temperatures differ by plant, and boiling water is often used. Medicinal teas with health claims are subject to separate rules.
