A business where spirits are made by distillation, from small fruit distilleries to large whisky distilleries.
A distillery is a business that distils alcoholic liquids. The range runs from small rural fruit distilleries and grain distilleries to industrial distilleries producing large quantities of whisky or neutral alcohol.
In Germany distilling is subject to strict rules and tax supervision because alcohol is subject to spirits tax. There are small estate distilleries that distil fruit from their own cultivation and bonded distilleries. Many distilleries offer tours and tastings.
