Black tea
German: Schwarzer Tee Also known as: Black Tea
A fully oxidised tea with a strong flavour and a dark cup colour.
For black tea the freshly picked leaves are withered, rolled and fully oxidised before being dried. Oxidation turns the leaves dark and creates the typical malty, spicy or fruity aromas.
Black tea is the most widely drunk type of tea in Europe. Well-known origins are Assam, Darjeeling and Ceylon. It is usually infused with freshly boiled water and steeps for about three to five minutes.
