No age statement (NAS)

NAS stands for no age statement. The whisky is blended from components of different ages without the age of the youngest distillate appearing on the label. Instead, names, cask types or style descriptions are normally used.

Producers point out that flavour depends on cask selection and blending, not just on age. Critics complain of lower transparency. For Scotch whisky, however, a minimum of three years of maturation must be observed.
