Gypsy brewing
German: Gypsy Brewing (Nomadenbrauen) Also known as: Nomadenbrauer, Phantombrauer, Gypsy Brewer
Brewing without an own brewery: the brewer rents capacity at other breweries for their own recipes.
In gypsy brewing, a brewer does not own a plant but brews recipes in the premises and on the equipment of other breweries. The brewer remains responsible for recipe, ingredients and quality and sells the beer under their own name.
The approach lowers entry costs and is common in the craft scene. It is similar to contract brewing but puts more emphasis on the own recipe and the brewer's mobility. The terms are not used uniformly.
